We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), released today. You’ll now have the option of joining conference calls through Web Meeting using your computer, with no need to dial in.
In case you don’t have time to read this whole post, here are some key points:
- Dial in to conference calls & Web Meeting with computer audio (recommended).
- New options exist for muting yourself, other participants, or the entire call.
- Tighter integration between Web Meeting and your conference call.
- Use a headset or headphones for the best overall experience.
Web Meeting Desktop App Computer Audio
Now, after opening the Web Meeting app, you will be prompted with two connection options, Computer Audio and Join by Phone. Select Computer Audio and you will join the meeting using your computer’s built-in microphone (or external microphone if it’s plugged into your computer) and speakers (or headset which is plugged into your computer). We recommend using a headset rather than your speakers, as it will greatly improve call audio.
After selecting computer audio, you will be presented with options for selecting a microphone and speakers.
After connecting, you can use the headset button to open a menu which will allow you to mute yourself or mute everyone on the call. Click the red phone button to open options to hang up the call, or end the entire meeting.
After disconnecting, you can use the phone button to re-connect with computer audio, or display the conference dial-in info if you prefer to call in using a phone.
We’ve also made some updates to the participant list where you’ll find a tighter integration between Web Meeting and your conference call. Active speakers will now show a small flashing green circle next to their icon on the left. You can use the 3-dot menu on the right of any participant to show the mute button.
Web Meeting Computer Audio
Similar to the desktop app, after following a link to a Web Meeting, participants will be prompted with two connection options, Computer Audio and Join by Phone.
After connecting, they can use the phone button in the menu in the top right to hang up the call. Then, they can use the same button to re-connect using computer audio, or display the conference dial-in info if you prefer to call in using a phone.
We truly hope you enjoy the convenience and call clarity this new web audio will bring to Web Meeting. As always, we welcome any feedback you have on new features we release and other enhancements you’d like to see from us.
